net/jobs-with-the-parish/ SUMMARY The Operator III works under the direction of the Water Supervisor and is responsible for water testing, water plant maintenance, handling premise complaints, and data entry of information.
Shift work is required (12-hour shifts) with week days off versus weekends.
Position may be filled at the Operator I, II, or III level depending on the applicant's licensure status.
MAJOR DUTIES Responsible for performing actions related to monitoring, maintaining, testing, treating, and operating parish owned water systems Responsible for operating mechanical equipment including inspecting machinery to detect flaws and defects in operation, making recommendations to supervisor on necessary repairs and upgrades Reading meters and charts and recording results Complying with all federal, state, and local regulations Maintaining all operating records as required Any other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Full Performance Level Minimum Qualification Requirements - Operator III, Labor Grade 114 Education and
Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent GED required and five (5) years related experience or equivalent in combination of education and experience.
Journeyman level experience in the operation and maintenance of a sewage or water treatment plant.
Selectee must have, upon appointment, Class III Water Treatment & Class III Water Production license awarded by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Operator Certification Office as a condition of employment.
Developmental Level Minimum Qualification Requirements - Operator II, Labor Grade 112 Education and
Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent GED required and two (2) years related experience or equivalent in combination of education and experience.
Journeyman level experience in the operation and maintenance of a sewage or water treatment plant.
Selectee must have, upon appointment, Class II Water Treatment & Class II Water Production license awarded by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Operator Certification Office as a condition of employment.
Developmental Level Minimum Qualification Requirements - Operator I, Labor Grade 110 Education and
Experience:
Completion of a High School Diploma or GED.
No directly related experience is required for minimum qualifications; however, experience in water system maintenance is preferred.
If filled at the Operator I level, incumbent must become, Class I Water Treatment & Class I Water Production license awarded by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Operator Certification Office within 6 months from hire date as a condition of employment.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS - CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Operator I:
The ability to obtain Level I Certification in Waste Water Collection as a condition of employment within 6 months of hire date.
Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
Operator II:
Upon appointment, Level II Certification in Waste Water as a condition of employment.
Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
Operator III:
Upon appointment, Level III Certification in Waste Water Collection and ability to maintain a Wastewater Treatment License as a condition of employment.
Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
A valid Louisiana state driver's license is required upon appoint, and the ability to maintain is required as a condition of employment.
The incumbent is subject to initial and random drug testing.
The position is designated as an Emergency Essential position and as such is subject to mandatory recall to the traditional or emergency worksite.
Failure to do so may lead to disciplinary actions up to and include termination of employment.
