Summary:

The role of the Engineering Design and Workflow Supervisor is to lead the design efforts required to support 18 chemical manufacturing units, supervise design engineers, piping designers, draftsmen, and administrative staff. The Engineering Design and Workflow Supervisor manages the engineering documentation for the Donaldsonville Complex, and coordinates engineering workflow for routine, turnaround, and capital management of change (MOC) jobs.   • Responsible for the in house design efforts to support maintenance and capital construction. This includes accountability for schedule, quality, and EHSS compliance of piping activities and deliverables.
  • Manage CF and contract Design Engineers to support civil and structural scope for development, evaluation, and execution of projects.
  • Manage a team of contract designers and draftsmen. Track progress, man hours, work quality, and efficiency. Provide feedback as needed to the designers and their employers to ensure work product meets or exceeds CF&s;s expectations.
  • Motivate, coach, and guide designers and draftsmen to improve Engineering department efficiency.
  • Supervise third party engineering resources to support project design objectives (such as piping stress, civil engineering, etc.)
  • Review construction packages as necessary to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Coordinate Engineering Department turnaround planning and report on project design progress as required by the CF turnaround workflow process and department management.
  • Track engineering work request (EWR) progress through design efforts, safety reviews, MOC processing, and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
  • Develop and manage engineering document control processes. Ensure systems are developed and implemented to safeguard engineering documentation for the facility.
  • Coordinate design efforts with other disciplines, departments, and stakeholders.
  • Report status of design efforts to engineering management periodically and as requested.
  • Oversee the underground research efforts required to issue facility excavation permits.
  • Regularly review design, documentation, and engineering workflow processes and identify performance gaps to ensure continuous improvement of the department.

Position Requirements:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent from an ABET accredited university or drafting and design degree from an accredited technical training college with appropriate work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of mechanical and piping design experience in the oil, gas, or chemical industries is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in AutoCAD and piping design software (CADWorx is preferred). Proficient with MS Office tools.
  • Three or more years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Expert in industry standard piping codes and standards. Knowledge of piping stress and supports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work occasional nights and weekends as necessary to support department requirements.
  • Must be able to occasionally climb stairs and ladders and work at heights.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
